DECOUPAGE IDEAS

Decoupage is a decorative craft technique where paper cutouts are applied to a surface and then coated with multiple layers of varnish or lacquer, creating the illusion of painted designs. Originating in 17th-century France and widely adopted in Venice, it allows for the transformation of ordinary objects like furniture, boxes, and plates into unique pieces of art. The process often involves careful selection of paper, precise cutting, meticulous gluing, and numerous coats of sealant, resulting in a smooth, durable, and often highly textural finish that can range from whimsical to sophisticated.
